Vaux le Vicomte castle
The domain of Vaux le Vicomte is the creation of three men gathered by Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of the finances of Louis XIV: the landscape gardener André Le Nôtre, the architect Louis Le Vau and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun.
United by a fraternal genius, they realize together the most perfect harmony between architecture and landscape of all the 17th century. As soon as it was inaugurated at the celebrated festival of 17 August 1661, Vaux le Vicomte aroused the lust of the Sun King and became the model from which all Europe was inspired. At 10km from Fontainebleau, Barbizon also called the "village of painters" is a mythical village of the pre-Impressionist period.
In 1850, pre-Impressionist French painters were looking for beautiful landscapes, and discovered this charming town, located near the forest of Fontainebleau.
Village of Samois Sur Seine
Charming village known for having welcomed for more than 20 years the festival of the famous guitarist Django Reinhardt.

With an area of 25,000 hectares, the forest of Fontainebleau remains a pure delight for nature lovers, its fauna and its very dense and diverse flora. It offers over 1600 km of forest roads and footpaths for the enjoyment of walkers including 300 km of marked trails.
Many activities are available: rock climbing, walking, horseback riding or cycling. You can also enjoy one of the most beautiful climbing sites in France.
The Equestrian Events
